“Fluid Verve” is my concept of creativity. While painting or writing, or for that matter while at any kind of creative exercise from—cooking to communication, I think that the best results can be achieved by flowing along the idea, with a lot of verve. This fluid state of mind while at work is like rafting through a beautiful and powerful river. It is a dedicated effort of steering through an inspiration towards intended shores. For me, being “fluid” and expressing with “verve” are requisites for rewarding creative experiences. I worked as a communication design professional for ten years before giving up the comparative comforts of a full-time job to pursue art and creative writing, and to travel. My job with NIIT Ltd as a Senior Design Analyst gave me eight years of a steep learning curve. This was followed by a transition to media industry. I worked as the Design Head for Tehelka.com for two years. Since 2009 I’ve been working part-time as a Media Manager for a variety of sports events—Indian Open Golf, Avantha Masters, and IPL for GMR Sports’ Delhi Daredevils—to name a few. I take up selective design jobs and. Two of the recently concluded ones are a logo design for Golden Jubilee celebration of Indo-Tibetan Border Police and a website for an esteemed artist and my mentor Mr Rameshwar Broota. I also host sports and music shows for All India Radio, again on casual basis. My full-time occupation nowadays is to establish my own language of expression through art and writing. I work out of the shared studio space in Triveni Kala Sangam and practice painting in various mediums. Rest of the work time is spent in penning down experiences, mostly travel related, of which quite a few have been published. - Priyanka Gera |
