Pirates of Knights

Dreams don’t really have a definite beginning. Certainly not nightmares. You just know that you reached there. You vaguely feel how you arrived. There is no confusion in the dreams. It’s only when you wake up and start thinking about it that you see the disconnected threads.

I was on a pirate ship. I felt that I had boarded it because there was no other option. Options for what? Something. Perhaps a compulsion. There is just one way forward in dreams – forward. But I knew I shouldn’t have been here. The ship was in deep seas already. Same monotonous waves. It was dark and gloomy even though I like oceans. They are vast and open. I had a role to play. They gave me a bucket with a whole in its bottom. I was surprised why the pirates didn’t kill me. Perhaps they found me useful. The captain thought so too. Just that we both had a different use in mind. I knew it. But I never thought so much. In nightmares the environment is always more scary than the script. The script is always vague.

The bucket will never fill up. It was sapping me of my energy, killing me gradually. There was no other ship in sight. No where to go except for the sea. What do I escape? The gradual torture of the ship or a clear death in the sea. I can’t swim. Sometimes all you need to do for yourself is to be able to tell yourself that I you tried; you did something to change things.

I jumped. They did their best to stop me. Lured me with their fangs and scared me with their smiles. But, I jumped.

I didn’t know how to swim and I was in a sea. But nightmares don’t even let you die. I was afloat somehow, it can’t be described. It was scary, blue and purple. But I didn’t drown. Till eternity and eternity was also far away.

Wow!! this… the way you’ve expressed it… gave me goosebumps. Honestly! Now if i feel scared at night, i’m going to call you up and wake you!

You’ve given me something to think about here… dreams not having a beginning, certainly no sense of trasition, vague script, yet intense impact… never paid any attention to it earlier… Interesting…
